Salem State University

On September 14, 2020, the Maine Office of the Attorney General reported that Salem State University experienced a data breach caused by an external system breach (hacking) that occurred between February 7, 2020, and May 20, 2020. Approximately 13,800 residents were affected, with information compromised including Social Security numbers. The university offered affected individuals one year of identity theft protection services through Experian.
