Teamsters Local 175: Teamsters Local 175 Data Breach Lawsuit Investigation

Teamsters Local 175 Hit by Ransomware Attack, Exposing Sensitive Data of Nearly 25,000 Individuals

Teamsters Local 175, a labor union representing workers across West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, and Virginia, disclosed a data breach after detecting unauthorized activity in its systems on March 4, 2026. Forensic investigators determined that an unauthorized third party may have accessed sensitive personal information as early as January 2, 2026.

The breach was reported to the Maine Attorney General’s office on March 13, 2026, with written notices sent to affected individuals beginning March 10, 2026. A total of 24,780 people in the U.S. were impacted, including two in Maine.

The INC RANSOM ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack, posting about it on the dark web on February 21, 2025.

Exposed data includes:

  • Full names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Commercial driver’s license information

The law firm Shamis & Gentile P.A. is investigating potential compensation claims for affected individuals, citing security failures that led to the breach. The union, founded in 1940, serves workers in construction, transportation, and warehouse industries, managing health and welfare funds for active and retired members.
