Black Spark Resistance Infiltrates Russian Shahed Drone Plant, Sabotages Production
Members of the Black Spark resistance movement, operating inside Russia, successfully infiltrated a Shahed drone production facility in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone, exfiltrating sensitive data and sabotaging operations. The group announced the operation via its X account, revealing that its agents had worked undercover for several months to gather intelligence.
The infiltrators reportedly downloaded databases containing details on personnel involved in assembling Geran-2 and Geran-3 drones Russia’s domestically produced versions of Iranian-designed Shahed kamikaze UAVs. Additionally, Black Spark claimed its agents sabotaged the assembly process by planting undisclosed "surprises" in the drones, warning that operators would face "unpleasant consequences" upon launch. The group stated this would reduce the number of personnel directly involved in strikes against Ukrainian cities.
Black Spark, an underground resistance movement, has been conducting sabotage operations inside Russia in coordination with Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SOF). While details about its leadership and membership remain undisclosed, Ukrainian SOF officially confirmed collaboration with the group as early as 2025. Recent attacks, including strikes on the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant and Helium Plant on June 24, have been attributed to joint efforts between Black Spark and Ukrainian forces.
The operation highlights the movement’s ability to penetrate high-security military production sites, disrupting Russia’s drone manufacturing capabilities amid the ongoing conflict.
