Oracle Releases October 2026 Critical Patch Update with 1,295 Security Fixes
Oracle has issued its October 2026 Critical Patch Update (CPU), addressing 1,295 security patches across its product portfolio. Released on October 20, the update includes fixes for 1,209 unique CVEs spanning 33 product families, as analyzed by Tenable.
Among the most severe vulnerabilities is CVE-2026-101809, a maximum-severity (CVSS 10.0) flaw in Oracle E-Business Suite’s Workflow Notification Mailer. Affecting versions 12.2.3 through 12.2.15, the vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to take over the Workflow component via HTTP, with Oracle describing it as easy to exploit. Successful exploitation could compromise data and operations, with potential ripple effects across connected business systems.
Another critical issue, CVE-2026-101767 (CVSS 9.8), impacts the Core component of Oracle Application Object Library in the same version range. This flaw enables remote exploitation over HTTP without credentials, posing risks to data privacy, integrity, and availability.
The update also patches CVE-2026-75803 (CVSS 9.8), a vulnerability in the Database Server’s OpenSSL component affecting versions 19.3–19.32 and 23.4.0–23.26.3. An unauthenticated attacker with TLS network access could take over the affected component. Additionally, Oracle APEX receives a fix for CVE-2026-101521 (CVSS 9.8), allowing unauthenticated HTTPS-based takeover in versions 24.1.0–24.1.21, 24.2.0–24.2.20, and 26.1.0–26.1.4.
Oracle has previously reported active exploitation of unpatched vulnerabilities, including CVE-2026-4681 (Oracle Payments) and CVE-2025-61882 (E-Business Suite). While no exploitation of the new Workflow flaw has been confirmed, the company warns that unpatched systems remain at risk, emphasizing the need for immediate patch deployment.
Administrators are advised to verify installed versions against Oracle’s affected-product tables and apply updates without delay. Temporary network restrictions may mitigate exposure but are not a long-term solution, as they can disrupt applications and do not address underlying flaws. Oracle also stresses the importance of updating defenses against emerging threats.
