Greenland's health service was targeted in a sophisticated cyber attack that crippled its IT systems and caused long waiting times and forced doctors to resort to using pen and paper instead of computers.

The first signs of the attack came when the doktor.gl was found to be offline, which was initially described as a "system crash".

The attack caused the patients to expect longer waiting times than usual, and some appointments got canceled.
