Montefiore Medical Center fell prey to a cyberattack as an individual illegally hacked into its systems and stole customer databases stored in Blackbaud which provides cloud-based data storage solutions for Montefiore to extort ransom.
The patient names, addresses, names of treating physicians, date(s) of service, and clinical department were the information that was stolen.
Montefiore along with Blackbaud took all necessary steps to understand the nature and the extent of the breach and prevent any further damage.
