The Enel Group has been the target of a ransomware attack by Netwalker, who is demanding a $14 million ransom for the decryption key and to keep several terabytes of stolen data from being released.
Snake ransomware, also known as EKANS, attempted to infiltrate Enel's internal network, however the intrusion was stopped before the infection could proliferate.
Enel Group was added by the Netwalker ransomware gang to their data leak website, and they also posted pictures of their company's unencrypted files.
About 5 gigabytes of data were taken from Enel, according to Netwalker, and they plan to release a portion of it to the public in a week. They added that they will search every file for interesting information and publish it on their leak website.
