Central Piedmont Community College

Central Piedmont Community College, North Carolina’s second-largest community college, has confirmed it’s the victim of a ransomware attack that has shut down all school-related technology.

The interruption to the spring semester and the need to keep students on schedule to finish the semester on time led to the cancellation of spring break, according to school officials.

The CPCC computer network had been hacked by unidentified suspects, according to the college's assistant director of campus security, who was informed of the situation. This led to a complete shutdown of all computer systems.

Although the inquiry has not turned up any proof that the personal information of students or employees was compromised, some college systems are still offline out of an abundance of caution.
