York Animal Hospital has observed that they have been hit by a ransomware attack their inventory data that was lost to the attack that wiped all patient records from the past four years.
The hospital said that since the cyberattack over the Fourth of July weekend wiped the hospital's entire server and all backup data, customers have been phoning to schedule visits and provide the hospital with as many records of their dogs as they can discover.
All that was left were a few paper records and some saved emails.
The hospital announced its team had managed to reenter nearly all of its database inventory.
The practice's computers crashed, and one of them displayed a ransom letter requesting $80,000 in Bitcoin in exchange for the restoration of filesand he objected to paying.
