A data breach at West Berkshire Council resulted in the sharing of more than 1,000 people's email addresses.
According to the council, it has informed the Information Commissioner's Office, a monitor for data privacy, about the occurrence.
The situation where a significant number of service customers were copied into an email with a survey about recreation centers was brought to the council's attention.
The council later apologized in a second email to those who had used its services, writing, "We're really sorry that your email address was shared in this way."
