Vector Security Data Breach Settlement: Key Details and Compensation Options
In December 2024, Vector Security Inc. experienced a targeted cyberattack that exposed sensitive personal data belonging to approximately 30,282 individuals, including current and former employees, customers, and others. The breach compromised information such as names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license details, financial account numbers, medical records, and health insurance data.
To resolve a class action lawsuit alleging inadequate security measures, Vector Security has agreed to a settlement offering affected individuals compensation and credit monitoring services. Eligible claimants those notified by Vector Security about the breach can submit claims for financial losses, time spent mitigating the breach, or a one-time cash payment.
Compensation Options:
- Out-of-pocket losses: Up to $2,000 for documented expenses related to identity theft, credit monitoring, ID replacement, or fraud resolution.
- Lost time: Up to $60 ($20/hour for three hours) for efforts like password changes or breach research.
- Alternative cash payment: A one-time $50 payment (final amount dependent on claim volume).
- Credit monitoring: One free year of CyEx Financial Shield Complete, including fraud monitoring and resolution support.
Claim Process and Deadlines:
Claims must be submitted online or via mail by September 15, 2026, using the login ID and PIN from the settlement notice. Documentation, such as receipts or bank statements, is required for out-of-pocket claims. Payments will be issued within 60 days of the court’s final approval, scheduled for October 6, 2026.
The settlement fund allocates up to $60,000 for administration, $250,000 for attorneys’ fees, and $5,000 for class representatives, with remaining funds distributed to claimants. While Vector Security denies wrongdoing, the settlement aims to avoid prolonged litigation.
