The Ethereum hot wallet of South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit was reportedly looted by hackers, who stole 342,000 ETH, totaling a $48.7 million worth of cryptocurrency.
Upbit's CEO Lee Seok-woo earlier wrote a statement on the website of the cryptocurrency exchange that confirmed the incident.
To ensure that no users lose money, Upbit claims it will pay for the replacement of the stolen Ethereum.
Additionally, it stated that all of the cryptocurrency held in its hot wallets have been moved to cold wallets, which are more safe.
