University Hospital Limerick

University Hospital Limerick notified 630 patients after alleged major data breach which saw information posted on social media.

The patient information, which allegedly included the patient's name, date of birth, and prescriptions prescribed, was taken from a computer system pertaining to patients who visited the emergency department.

The information in question was taken from a machine that safely dispenses medication in the emergency department.

To safeguard patient data, the HSE and UL Hospitals Group acted right away. Twitter disabled the account in question and prevented the access to the data.
