The computer system of Town of Wasaga Beach were hacked and locked down for several weeks in a ransomware attack.
The town eventually had to pay the hackers three Bitcoins, worth approximately $34,000 to get their system decrypted.
However, the other costs to completely recover from the attack including were estimated at a combined $250,000.
