TMZ fell victim to an ongoing malvertising campaign in 2016 that redirected its visitors to the malicious Angler exploit kit.
These ads redirected the users to a landing page for the Angler exploit kit, where the malicious code initiated a series of scans to check for various vulnerabilities and downloaded various malicious attacks onto a user’s computer.
The users were urged to be careful when clicking on such ads.
