Some customers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), the largest electricity seller in the country faced problems in buying power and others had their power off for days without respite after some sections of the company’s systems have been hacked in a ransomware attack.
ECG project site situated near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra was infiltrated by ransomware, and the hackers also changed the source code and took control of parts of the server.
ECG also extended its working hours to ensure that all customers who were affected by the situation can buy power.
