The Home Depot

Home Depot sufferd from a data breach incident that exposed the private order confirmations of 100 of Canadian consumers, containing names, physical addresses, email addresses, order details and partial credit-card information.

Customers started complaining that they had received 100 emails from the home improvement company, each of which contained an order confirmation for an unknown person.

After being criticised for the "in-store only" remark, Home Depot Canada acknowledged the effect on internet buyers in a subsequent tweet.

The issue, according to the company, has been resolved. Passwords and non-hashable credit card data were not included in any of the communications.
