The Australian National University
The Australian National University (ANU ) fell victim to a cyber security attack.
A substantial amount of data relating to students, staff, and visitors dating back 19 years was stolen.
The compromised information includes 'names, addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, personal email addresses, emergency contact details, tax file numbers, payroll information, bank account details, and passport details.
The data thieves demanded a ransom from ANU before "erasing" the material they took and they will make it available to the whole public if the ransom is not paid.
