The insurance company Ardonagh was forced to suspend 200 internal admin accounts after learning of a potential ransomware infection.
Although Ardonagh spokeswoman Kelly-Ann Knight did not deny that ransomware was involved in the cyber incident the company experienced, she did not provide any additional information.
The company took all necessary action including taking impacted systems offline and implemented our business continuity plans in the impacted business units, to minimize disruption to customers.
Though there is no indication that the attack on Ardonagh is linked, companies with plenty of cash in the bank are attractive targets to the sorts of criminals behind ransomware attacks.
