Tata Electronics Bolsters Security After Major Data Breach Exposes Apple, Tesla, and TSMC Blueprints

Tata Electronics, a key supplier in Apple’s efforts to diversify iPhone production outside China, has significantly tightened its cybersecurity measures following a large-scale data breach. The Indian manufacturer restricted remote access to critical systems including procurement and purchase order tools after the ransomware group World Leaks leaked over 200,000 sensitive files on the dark web.

The breach, totaling more than 630 gigabytes of data, reportedly includes confidential component designs and blueprints from major tech firms such as Apple, Tesla, TSMC, and Qualcomm. Among the exposed documents is a 2023 file from Apple’s Silicon Engineering Group, which allegedly links Apple part numbers to TSMC components, according to News.Az, citing Reuters.

In response, Tata Electronics has initiated a forensic audit with a global cybersecurity consultant and notified the Indian government. Apple’s security team is collaborating with Tata to implement immediate and long-term security enhancements. While Tata confirmed the incident as a "cybersecurity breach," the company stated that its manufacturing operations remain unaffected.
