Over 28 million users were exposed as a result of the data breach notification website LeakBase, which informed Taringa's colleagues.
A copy of the compromised database, which included hashed passwords and usernames for 28,722,877 accounts, has been made available to LeakBase.
LeakBase has provided The Hacker News' peers with a dump of 4.5 million Taringa users so they can verify the information.
Users whose emails were included in the dump they received were contacted by THN experts, who verified the legitimacy of their login information.
