Tangoe Data Breach Settlement Offers Compensation to Affected U.S. Individuals
A class action settlement has been reached with Tangoe US Inc. following a November 2022 cyberattack that exposed sensitive personal data of U.S. residents. The breach compromised names, Social Security numbers, medical and insurance details, financial account information, and other confidential records.
Eligible class members individuals whose data was impacted by the breach may claim compensation under the settlement. Payout options include:
- Up to $750 for documented out-of-pocket expenses (e.g., credit monitoring, ID replacement, or fraud-related costs) incurred between November 2022 and June 3, 2026.
- Up to $100 for lost time (capped at four hours at $25/hour) spent addressing the breach.
- Up to $5,000 for extraordinary losses, such as identity theft or fraud, with proof linking the incident to the breach.
- A $50 one-time payment for those who do not claim other losses.
- Two years of three-bureau credit monitoring, including $1 million in identity theft insurance and dark web scanning.
Claims must be submitted online or via mail by June 3, 2026, with supporting documentation required for reimbursement. Payments will be distributed after final court approval, expected following a June 11, 2026 hearing.
The lawsuit alleged Tangoe failed to adequately secure the compromised data, though the company denies wrongdoing and settled to avoid prolonged litigation. The settlement fund covers administration costs, $195,000 in attorneys’ fees, a $2,500 service award for the class representative, and payments to approved claimants.
