ShinyHunters Claims Breach of Logitech and Streamlabs, Issues Extortion Threat

The hacking collective ShinyHunters has alleged a breach of Logitech, the Swiss-based hardware and gaming peripherals manufacturer, and its subsidiary Streamlabs, a popular streaming platform for gamers. In an August 18, 2026 post, the group issued a "final warning" to the companies, threatening to leak stolen data unless contacted by August 21, 2026. The message, titled "Final warning pay or leak," did not disclose specifics about the compromised data or its volume.

Logitech, known for its gaming gear, mice, keyboards, and streaming software, acquired Streamlabs in 2019 for $89 million. The company has not yet responded to requests for comment on the claims.

ShinyHunters, active since 2020, is a financially motivated group specializing in data theft and extortion. The collective has been linked to high-profile breaches, including Ticketmaster (via Snowflake), PowerSchool, EY, and RingCentral, the latter of which confirmed a 623GB data theft in 2025. The group was also behind the 2025 Qantas hack, which exposed millions of Australians’ data. Despite the 2025 arrest of four members by French authorities and reports of others leaving the group, ShinyHunters remains operational, particularly in supply chain attacks. Since October 2025, the group has claimed 145 victims.

The incident follows ShinyHunters’ recent shift toward ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) with its "shinysp1d3r" offering, reinforcing its position as a persistent cybersecurity threat.
