Lukas Hospital in Germany's western city of Neuss suffered a ransomware attack which lead the computers, servers, and even the email server to go offline.
The attackers infected most of the systems in the hospital and encrypted the files that disrupted its operations.
The attackers demanded the ransom but the hospital authorities informed the State Criminal Investigation Office and developed special software to scan and restore almost 100 servers and some 900 devices and other infected systems.
