St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton suffered from a data breach incident after mistakenly 230 patients' health records were faxed to the wrong people.
The hospital claimed that the majority of the 900 misdirected faxes that were sent in 2020 were medical records that were sent to patients' primary-care doctors, whose numbers had accidentally changed.
Along with notifying the affected individuals it also established a toll-free call center to answer questions about the incident.
