The county claimed that ransomware infiltrated its computer network for behavioral health and recovery services.
A network was basically held hostage by ransomware programs until the victim pays the cyber criminals.
The infected network has been shut down and isolated by Stanislaus County officials.
All of the county's mental health and recovery services centers are still accepting new patients, and the phone systems are working properly.
