South Staffs Water

South Staffordshire Water was targeted by a criminal cyber attack in August 2022.

The SCADA systems of the company, which regulate industrial operations at treatment plants, were allegedly accessible to criminal hackers.

The criminal organization published stolen documents purportedly verifying the compromise on the dark web.

The seized data, however, didn't support their assertion, raising questions about the accuracy of the attack.

The UK is now experiencing a water crisis due to a protracted drought.

Residents were being asked to use less water, and certain water companies have banned the use of hosepipes.

South Staffordshire Water has not yet commented on whether it will pay the ransom.
