Mysa Dental Data Breach Exposes Personal and Health Information of Thousands in Texas
Mysa Dental, a San Antonio-based family dental clinic under Soniva Dental Care, recently disclosed a data breach stemming from a ransomware attack that impacted at least 30,000 Texans. The clinic reported the incident to the Texas Attorney General, identifying 3,394 of its patients as affected.
The breach was detected on May 26, 2026, when Mysa Dental’s IT support team noticed irregularities in its remote access session hosts. Upon confirming the attack, the IT team took immediate action locking down external access, terminating remote connections, disabling user accounts, and enforcing an office-wide password reset. While the patient record platform was later restored and archive data remained unaffected, the investigation revealed that sensitive patient information may have been accessed or compromised.
Exposed data included names, addresses, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, government-issued IDs (such as passports or state IDs), medical records, and health insurance details. However, payment information and dental care records were not impacted.
