SESARAM acknowledged that a "deliberate and malicious cyberattack with the sole objective of causing damage and disrupting the normal functioning of the Regional Health Service of the Autonomous Region of Madeira" had taken place.
The same source emphasises that this has affected the internal functioning of SESARAM, compromising some areas, and that attempts are being undertaken in accordance with the competent authorities, to overcome the current situation.
Due to this incident, all non-urgent clinical activity will be suspended to take into account: consultations, scheduled surgeries, clinical analyses, and complementary means of diagnosis, SESARAM stated.
