Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) was affected by ransomware on Christmas Eve 2020 which knocked out a number of key systems offline and exposed data to the attackers.
The attackers stole about 1.2GB of data regarding a number of business areas from their systems and leaked some of the information online.
SEPA immediately isolated the affected systems and cybersecurity specialists were called to investigate and contain the incident.
