Canadian healthcare service provider Scarborough Health Network noticed unusual activity on its systems that exposed patient healthcare records.
The investigations revealed that a “subset of data” on a number of SHN’s servers were accessed by unauthorized parties.
The breach exposed the information including patient names, birth dates, email addresses, home addresses, lab reports, diagnosis information, medical procedure details, insurance policy numbers, details of attending physicians, and more.
The data was just limited to patients admitted to an SHN hospital and soon the hackers were kicked off its systems.
