SalzburgMilch

The longest day of the year turned out to be a nightmare for the Austrian dairy Salzburgmilch was targeted by the cyber attack.

All of the dairy's IT systems had been crippled by previously unidentified hackers.

The failure had an impact on every aspect of the business, including logistics, warehousing, and communication.

The attackers encrypted all passwords and a significant amount of the data stored in them so that the computer systems may utterly fail and as a result, orders were no longer feasible.

Dairy farmers were unaffected by the cyber attack because raw milk could still be collected.

The dairy can produce dairy products from the raw milk that is brought to it and process it, but in the days after the cyberattack, it was unable to record the goods in the storage system and for a few days, it was unable to provide the trading partners.

The business has not disclosed any details regarding whether or not there are ransom demands, or if there are, how much is being requested.
