Riverside County Department of Public Social Services

Riverside County experienced a data breach incident that exposed 800 paper files which containing sensitive information were stolen from vehicle on August 2019.

The records contained sensitive information about cases investigated by the Riverside County Department of Public Social Services, putting the personal data of 770 individuals at risk of misuse.

The Riverside Police Department conducted an active investigation, although they don't know who stole the records or for what reason.

The stolen files contained reports of elder or dependent adult abuse and included clients' full names, addresses, dates of birth and social security numbers.

They apologized to each affected person and took preventive steps to secure its systems.
