Rain Bird Corporation Data Breach Exposes Payment Card Information of Nearly 25,000 U.S. Consumers
Rain Bird Corporation, a global irrigation manufacturer headquartered in Azusa, California, confirmed a data breach affecting its web store, exposing sensitive payment card information of 24,862 individuals in the U.S., including 40 Maine residents. The incident was detected on July 25, 2025, after suspicious activity was identified on the company’s online platform. Following an investigation with cybersecurity experts, Rain Bird determined that fraudulent activity had compromised payment cards used on its web store between February 11 and September 5, 2025.
The breach exposed customers’ names, credit card numbers, card verification values (CVV), and associated access codes. Rain Bird completed its review and began notifying affected individuals on December 11, 2025, while also disclosing the incident to Attorney General offices in California, Maine, and Vermont the day prior.
The law firm Shamis & Gentile P.A. is currently investigating the breach on behalf of impacted individuals, who may be eligible for compensation through potential class action litigation. The firm has indicated that those affected could seek damages for financial losses, time spent addressing the breach, or emotional distress.
Rain Bird has not publicly disclosed the cause of the breach, but the extended exposure window suggests prolonged unauthorized access to its payment processing systems. The company has not yet announced whether it will offer credit monitoring or identity protection services to affected customers.
