Wildwood Surgical Center Data Breach Exposes Sensitive Patient Information
On June 26, 2025, Wildwood Surgical Center, an outpatient surgery facility in Toledo, Ohio, detected unauthorized access to its network. An investigation revealed that between June 24 and June 26, 2025, a third party gained entry and potentially exfiltrated sensitive personal data. Affected individuals were notified via letters sent around July 13, 2026.
The breach may have compromised a range of personal and medical information, including names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license and passport numbers, diagnostic and treatment details, medical billing data (such as bank account or payment card numbers), and health insurance information. Those who received a notification letter face heightened risks of identity theft and fraud.
National class action law firm Edelson Lechtzin LLP is now investigating potential legal claims on behalf of impacted individuals. The firm is offering free case evaluations to assess eligibility for a class action lawsuit. Wildwood Surgical Center, owned jointly by The Toledo Hospital and local surgeons, has not disclosed the number of affected patients or the specific cause of the breach.
