Premier Healthcare, a Bloomington, Indiana-based healthcare provider, suffered a data breach when a thief stole a laptop containing 205,748 patients information from the company's billing department.
Accessed files contained patients' names, addresses, birth dates, medical record numbers, insurance information and clinical information and SSNs and financial information of 1,769 individuals.
Premier investigated the incident and filed a police report, and begun the process of encrypting all computers so that data can not be missused.
