Peachtree Orthopaedic Clinic in Georgia fell victim to a data security incident in the first week of January.
The intruder accessed the personal and protected health information (PHI) including names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security Numbers, and some clinical information of approximately 531,000 patients.
The Peachtree Orthopaedic Clinic took the help of experts and implemented several additional technical safeguards including new intrusion detection system, improved its firewall, reset all of its user passwords, upgraded its anti-virus software to secure its data.
