OakBend Medical Center experienced a ransomware attack that resulted in a data breach incident.
The attack compromised the names, contact information, Social Security numbers and birth dates of current and former patients, employees, and other related parties after attackers gained access to its network and encrypted portions of its system.
They also removed some of the data that they accessed during the attack.
OakBend worked to restore its network and then contacted a third-party data security firm to assist with the investigation and also sent a breach notice to the affected parties.
