Cyber Attack Disrupts New Zealand Bloodstock’s Online Yearling Sale
New Zealand Bloodstock (NZB) has postponed its National Online Yearling Sale by 24 hours following a cyber attack that disrupted the auction platform, Gavelhouse Plus. The interference, which occurred on Tuesday, impacted multiple lots and caused significant delays for bidders.
The sale will now resume on Wednesday at 6:00 PM (NZT). NZB acknowledged the disruption, apologizing for the inconvenience and confirming efforts to restore normal operations.
Despite the delay, all yearlings purchased in the auction including those from the same sale that produced the unbeaten galloper Well Written remain eligible for nomination into NZB’s Karaka Millions Series.
In response to the disruption, the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders Association extended its early bird entry offer for the Entain-NZB Insurance Pearl Series. Buyers now have until 5:00 PM (NZT) on Friday to secure a discounted entry fee of $1,000 (plus GST), a $500 saving. The offer applies to fillies from the National Online Yearling Sale and is limited to existing customers under specific terms.
