Poland’s National Centre for Nuclear Research Thwarts Cyberattack on IT Infrastructure
Poland’s National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) successfully blocked a cyberattack targeting its IT systems before any disruption occurred. The incident, detected and neutralized by security teams, posed no threat to the institute’s operations, including the safe and uninterrupted function of the MARIA research reactor, which continues to operate at full capacity.
The NCBJ, a leading scientific institute in Central Europe, specializes in nuclear energy, subatomic physics, and applied research. Following the attempted intrusion, the centre collaborated with national cybersecurity authorities to investigate the attack and reinforce its defenses. While no group has claimed responsibility, Polish officials indicated early evidence suggests possible links to Iran.
