Most Affected Countries and Regions
The United States led globally with 142.9 million breached accounts, representing over a third of all leaks. France followed with 40.3 million, while India ranked third with 28.9 million. However, when adjusted for population size, France had the highest breach density 12 times the global average followed by the U.S. and Israel.
Regionally, North America was hit hardest, with 154.2 million breaches (36% of the global total), driven overwhelmingly by the U.S. Europe accounted for 24% (103.9 million), while Asia contributed 14% (59.3 million). India dominated Asia’s breaches, while France, Germany, and Russia led Europe’s.
Sectors Under Siege
The internet and telecom sector suffered the most, with 20% of major breaches, followed by finance (12%) and computers/electronics (10%). Travel, business, and adult content industries also saw significant exposure.
