The Miami-Dade school district's remote learning platform was allegedly subjected to cyberattacks that made it nearly difficult to use, prompting police to detain a Florida high school student.

The South Miami Senior High School student, a 16-year-old junior, admits to attacking the school's My School Online network.

The school district had been under constant attack from distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks since the start of the new school year. DDoS attacks overload a network with internet traffic in an effort to bring it to a standstill or take it down.

According to reports, many students who attempted to sign in to My School Online encountered persistent please wait messages.
