Doctor Web's antivirus detected the Vo1d malware on various Android-based TV boxes in 197 countries, compromising nearly 1.3 million devices. Vo1d, a backdoor Trojan, secretly downloads and installs third-party software, altering system files and adding malicious components. Victims span Brazil to Indonesia, with devices often misconstrued as newer Android versions while being outdated and vulnerable. The compromised TV boxes frequently lack proper updates and security, creating a massive infection vector. This widespread issue emphasizes the dangers with budget devices and the necessity for heightened vigilance in cybersecurity to protect against such pervasive threats.
