Cyberattack Halts Sugar Production at Major Australian Mills

A cybersecurity incident has forced the shutdown of two key sugar mills in Australia’s Mackay region, disrupting production and halting sugarcane harvesting. Mackay Sugar, the country’s second-largest sugar producer, confirmed the attack on Wednesday, prompting the immediate suspension of operations at its Farleigh and Racecourse mills in Queensland.

The company, which had just begun its annual crushing season, engaged cybersecurity experts and local authorities to investigate the breach and restore systems.
