Luas Ventures

Dublin's tram company, Luas, has shut down its website after a hacker seized it and demanded payment.

If Luas doesn't pay 1 bitcoin (about €3,375) in the next five days, the fraudster, who claims to have hacked the company's systems, will disclose the information of its clients.

Customers can scarcely be confident in the general quality of Luas's information security given that it is unknown whether the criminal hacker actually has access to their personal data.
