Lincoln Families

The incident resulted in the exposure of driver’s license or non-driver identification card numbers belonging to 2,073 individuals. The breach involved unauthorized access to a system containing personally identifiable information (PII), specifically government-issued ID numbers, which could be exploited for identity theft or fraud. While no financial data (e.g., bank details, credit cards) or broader personal records (e.g., medical, employment history) were confirmed as compromised, the exposure of official identification documents poses a significant risk of misuse, including potential fraudulent account openings, loan applications, or impersonation. In response, Lincoln Families offered 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring through Equifax Gold to affected individuals, aiming to mitigate risks such as unauthorized credit activity or identity fraud. The delayed discovery of the breach (over 11 months after the initial intrusion) further exacerbates concerns about data security protocols and incident response effectiveness within the organization.
