In a pervasive phishing campaign since at least July 2024, numerous Ukrainian government and local entities have suffered from a malware attack known as ANONVNC (MESHAGENT), enabling hidden remote control of the infected hosts. Over 100 computers, including within critical Ukrainian government and local government agencies, were found to be infected, leading to unauthorized access to the infected systems. Compromised computers of government entities could have critical implications for national security, including theft of sensitive information, disruption in governmental operations, and potential spread to broader infrastructures.
