The province of the Islands was attacked by ransomware. File-blocking malware and extortion are also present. Roughly 110 million Pacific francs, or one million US dollars, would constitute the ransom.

The attack on the computer happened at night. It was discovered that the agents were no longer able to access any type of data.

The organisation stated that, while acknowledging that there would be priority directives, they will assess the circumstances and try to provide maybe the best service possible.

The province complained to the Wé gendarmerie located in Lifou. The Public Prosecutor's Office will be notified of this. This should activate the gendarmerie's cybercrime team.
