Southern Dallas County's Lancaster School District was the target of a cyberattack. According to the agency, the ransomware attack is hampering operations, but it is trying to get systems back online.
The District acted affirmatively to stop the threat as soon as it was made aware of the incident.
Additionally, the District has hired outside cybersecurity specialists to support its response and carry out a separate investigation.
The District takes seriously its responsibility to protect the personal information it maintains and is continuing to enhance its existing security protocols.
The district did not reveal if it paid or will pay a ransom to the hackers.
