On July 11, 2016, the California Office of the Attorney General reported that KUSC experienced a data breach due to ransomware malware affecting its contractor, Comnet Marketing Group. The incident resulted in the deletion of a storage system containing customer demographic data and credit card information, although KUSC has no evidence that the credit card data was accessed by unauthorized users.
